Lauren Lodge Campbell
One of our first awardees in 2014. British/Australian soprano Lauren Lodge-Campbell studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama following her studies at the Queensland Conservation, Australia.
During her studies she was the recipient of the Susan Longfield Prize and Franz Schubert Institut Lieder Competition. The latter awarded her a full scholarship to study at the Franz Schubert Institut in Baden, Austria.
‘My studies in the UK were crucial to my career as I was able to meet contacts and audition for people in the UK and Europe. During my studies at the Guildhall, I found a love for baroque music, which is the area I’ve mainly focused on since graduating. The Australia Foundation Grant enabled me to undertake my studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Dance – without the grant and other funding I wouldn’t have been able to afford the expensive fees as an international student’.
During Lauren’s studies she built technique and skills, as well as developed plenty of contacts. One of the projects she was able to embark on was a role in an Opera with the London Symphony Orchestra and Sir Simon Rattle. Along with studying at the Franz Schubert Institut in Baden, Austria and gaining a place on the Jardin de Voix young artist programme with the French ensemble – Les Arts Florissants. After a few years working internationally, she was offered her first role with Pinchgut Opera in Sydney and has regularly travelled back to Australia to work with them.
Lauren’s journey in London continues and she now lives and works here. You can find out more about her journey on her website laurenlodgecampbell.com
