General Questions

Q: How is a completed Grant Application defined?

Answer:

If the mandatory fields are completed (1 to 5) and the attachments are supplied by the applicant as defined, then the application will be considered complete.  Once you have submitted your application it cannot be changed.

Q:  When can I submit my Grant Application Form?

Answer:

You can submit your grant application from 1 November 2022 and up until the closing date, which ends at 5pm (GMT) on 30 April 2023.

Q:  When will I know if I have been successful or unsuccessful?

Answer:

All applicants whether successful or not can expect to hear from us by the end of July 2024.

Q:  If I have been unsuccessful will I receive feedback on why my application was unsuccessful?

Answer:

No, the Trustees cannot provide feedback on unsuccessful applications.

Q:  If I have been successful, can I apply for another grant?

Answer:

No, successful applicants will not be considered for further grants. 

 

APPLICATION FORM – PERSONAL DETAILS

Q1.  What is a statement of career goals?

Answer:

YES The Trustees would like a brief statement of career goals that you would like to achieve.  Be brief and clear about your goals and remember that this statement should define what you would like to achieve through this application. Please tell us in not more than 100 words.

Q2 . What is the purpose of your study and what is the total amount of funding required?

Answer:

The total amount of funding that you require must be expressed in pounds sterling, e.g. £1000.00 and not in Australian Dollars or any other currency. Please note, commas are not accepted, decimal points are accepted. The amount you have requested on the form cannot be changed at a later date.

Grants will be paid to the relevant institution or organisation where the successful applicant is studying.   The Trust will need to know the date(s) when the host institution expects to be paid.  The host institution may wish to be paid in instalments and if so these must be within the grant period and for a maximum period of 5 years (see Q4).

The precise purpose for which a grant is sought:

Please describe the project or course for study for which you require a grant up to a maximum of 700 words.  The Trustees wish to fully understand why you have applied for a grant and therefore please be clear and accurate in your description.  

Q3.  Have you applied for other funding?

Answer: 

If Yes, you must give the details of the source of this funding, for example: employer, government agency, teaching institution, etc. Please tell us in no more than 400 words.

Q4.  Proposed Project Dates – what is the grant term?

Answer:

We expect most applicants to apply for a grant for a specific project or course of study that will require funding over one or two years.  However, the Trustees will consider an application for a grant that will require funding up to 31 August 2026.   

Grant Term:  If funding is from 1 September 2023 to 31 August 2024 then this is the grant term. 

If funding is for Year I and Year II, the grant term is 1 September 2023 to 31 August 2025.  In other words the grant term dates from the first year of funding to the last year of funding.

Note:   Applicants must ensure that the expiry date on their passport exceeds the end of the grant term.

Q5.  What attachments do I send with my application form?

Answer:

  1. Funding Breakdown (Excel, Word or PDF format)

  2. CV to be word processed, not hand written, and you are required to include your Australian academic qualifications, your current postal address and current email address. Please do not include your profile image. (PDF format)

  3. Statement from proposed host institution (PDF format)

    The host institution should include as much detail about the project or course of study as possible.  Include a contact name and UK telephone number in order the Trustees can make contact with the host institution.

  4. Character reference (1) - (PDF Format)

    This referee must have know you for at least 5 years and contact details of the referee included in order the Trustees may, if they see fit, make further enquiries.

  5. Character reference (2) - (PDF Format)

    This referee must have known you for at least 1 year and contact details of the referee included in order the Trustees may, if they see fit, make further enquiries.
